Dear Residents' Association & Local Organisation Representative,
This letter is being sent to Residents' Associations and local organisations representing residents who are affected by the operations of Biggin Hill Airport and who have concerns about its impact on the local community. It is a copy of the message sent to supporters.. ====== 16 September 2023 Following our August Newsletter, we have been informed by the Airport Monitoring Officer, James George, that the promised update on the progress of the NAP Revision will be presented to the Executive, Resources and Contracts Policy Development and Scrutiny Committee (ERCPDS) on Monday 18th September 2023, followed by the Executive Committee meeting on Wednesday 20th September 2023. We recommend that as many of our supporters and like-minded local residents attend both meetings so that Councillors and Officers are in no doubt about our concerns regarding the expansion of BHAL and that they should keep residents firmly in mind during any further negotiations. The meetings will take place at the Council Chambers in Stockwell Close, Bromley, as previously. Each will start at 7pm. Remember the dates! Monday 18th and Wednesday 20th September 2023. Please do attend. Thank you for your continued support. Best regards Flightpath Watch Ltd https://flightpathwatch.co.uk

Sadly the pre-school hit a financial glitch and the decision was made not to continue for the September term.

Dear Residents' Association & Local Organisation Representative,
This letter is being sent to Residents' Associations and local organisations representing residents who are affected by the operations of Biggin Hill Airport and who have concerns about its impact on the local community. It is a copy of the message sent to supporters.. ====== Below is a brief update on recent developments. Noise Action Plan (NAP) We are expecting to hear in August how the BHAL NAP Revision negotiations are progressing when a report is provided to the LBB Executive, in accordance the Committee’s instruction last February. We anticipate that progress has been slow, but we will be looking for indications that the submissions from Flightpath Watch and from residents have been heeded. When the Revised NAP document is published for consideration we shall ask residents to support us at the Council meetings. Meanwhile, please continue to write to your local Councillors with your concerns about living under the flight path and stress that they should be addressed in the revised document. Increase in flight movements Many of you will have noticed the increasing numbers of aircraft departing from BHAL reaching further to the East than previously, extending from Downe to Orpington. Incoming flights from Thames/Dartford routes are also spreading out further according to residents in Petts Wood and Chislehurst. This appears to be a trial for the Future Airspace Strategy Implementation (FASI) for the CAA. Our concerns are that BHAL will use this strategy as a reason to override the restrictions currently imposed by the Lease on the flight paths they should operate. Recently a number of residents have noticed an increase in low-flying planes. If you see planes you believe are in violation of the agreement with Biggin Hill Airport, you should report them on the Webtrak system as the airport is obliged to investigate complaints and take appropriate action. The following 7 June email extract from an Airport Monitoring Officer at Airport Consultation (LBB) is confirmation of illegal flights over Green Street Green High Street* and how to report them: "You are quite correct that BR6 6BQ* is within a Noise Sensitive Area (NSA). As such it should not be overflown below 2,000ft, unless under the instruction of Air Traffic Control or if it is unsafe not to do so. This is in keeping with the Noise Action Plan that was agreed when the extension of Biggin Hill Airport’s operating hours was agreed. It is worth noting that there are areas of Green Street Green to the west of the A21 that do not fall within the NSA. I would encourage you to directly report any aircraft you believe to be in violation of this commitment to Biggin Hill Airport using the Webtrak system (https://webtrak.emsbk.com/bqh2). It is important that the Airport is made aware of concerns and complaints that residents have, and they are obliged to investigate these complaints and take appropriate action. The Council monitors the complaints process as it has representatives on the Safety and Noise Abatement Review Board, Noise and Safety Sub-Committee and Airport Consultative Committee which have oversight of complaints. " Meetings are open to the public and usually take place every 3 months at 7pm in Green Street Green Baptist Church Hall, World's End Lane. The Ward Panel needs some new representation, particularly from young people, to provide a balanced view of local issues. Anyone from the area who is interested, please contact: The Safer Neighbourhood team (Chelsfield Ward)
According to the Environment Agency, over five million people in England live and work in properties at risk of flooding from rivers or the sea, whilst more face flood threats from groundwater, surface water, sewers, and reservoirs. Gocompare has put together a guide to preparing for a flood and protecting your property - gocompare.com/home-insurance/limiting-flood-risk-and-damage/ In extreme conditions you won't be able to stop flood water, and you should always put personal safety above attempts to protect property and possessions. Despite this, there are steps that you can take to keep water out, to buy yourself time to preserve property and possessions, and to limit the damage that flood water does. |
