Frequency Cottage, 6 High Street, adjoining the Greenwood Centre, is up for sale. The charity has always hoped one day to be able to own the complete building, particularly with the glorious garden (pictured left).
Since the opening of the Centre in 1952, the one disadvantage has always been the lack of outside space for children at the pre-school to play. Both Bumble Bells, all-day, year-round nursery, and children's parties would greatly benefit and the charity's future would be secured for generations to come.
The asking price is £490,000 and, according to the estate agent, there is a lot of interest, so time is tight and we need to raise at least £250,000. We are pursuing funding avenues for charity loans but it would be helpful if we have interested parties signed up for using the additional space, in order to cover mortage repayments - so please spread the word and ask anyone interested to get in touch as soon as possible.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DONATE NOW - EVERY LITTLE HELPS: Crowdfund the future
The project set up to finance roof and rendering repairs has only reached £3,500 of the £25-30,000 needed but the opportunity to expand the Centre and enhance its status as an asset of community value may never come again if we miss it this time. We could have garden parties, weddings, fetes etc and there would be so many more opportunities to raise funds, put on more events and become a real community hub for all.
Full details are here.
