New Mayor of Bromley for 2023-24
Congratulations from GSGA to Cllr Mike Botting who was appointed Mayor of Bromley at the Annual Council meeting on 10 May.
He has vowed to visit residents in every corner of the Borough during his mayoral year!
We wish him good luck in achieving that.
He is pictured on the left with his wife, Cllr Kim Botting, who has also been Mayor of Bromley twice. Is this a record ?

The Railings on the Green are up (June 2020)
There was no consultation with local residents regarding railings, in addition to the wooden posts, but they have arrived willy-nilly! However, despite spoiling the openness of The Green, they are low and not too bad. it is a pity they are metal......wood would look less industrial... What do residents think? Email and let us know. |

Bromley & Thunder Bay Friendship Agreement - signing after Remembrance event postponed
Unfortunately the Mayor of Thunder Bay (Canada) is now unable to come over to sign the Agreement on the 11 November. It will be postponed but hopefully no later than March 2019, when the Mayor of Bromley, Cllr Kim Botting, will also sign at Bromley Civic Centre. Thunder Bay has a number of sister city arrangements with countries around the world. The Friendship Agreement will formalise the relationship between the London Borough of Bromley and the City of Thunder Bay, which is based on over 100 years of shared history and remembrance. It will be a citizen driven relationship with a focus on educational and cultural links and exchanges.
The Remembrance events in Orpington, on Sunday 11 November, comprised:
10:40am Muster at Orpington War Memorial
10:50am Act of Remembrance begins
11.20am Depart from the War Memorial
11.40am Church service at All Saints' Parish Church, Bark Hart Road
12.20pm Procession to Ivy Millichamp's grave
12.30pm Procession to Canadian Corner with Bugler

Serious threat to the Green Belt
The proposed development at Fort Halstead and the surrounding area is the most serious threat to the Greenbelt for several years. Sevenoaks District Council is proposing to build 14% of all their new homes in Halstead, just outside Green Street Green. The Broke Hill Golf Club Greenbelt site is also just across the A21 road from Chelsfield Lakes Golf Club. The A21 forms the border between The London Borough of Bromley and Sevenoaks District Council. If Broke Hill is built on, it raises the threat of building on the Chelsfield Lakes site as well.

New homes in Green Street Green
There has been quite a lot of recent development, some still going on. First, the old betting shop, on the end of terrace opposite the Shell garage, was converted into three flats, now occupied. Two new houses have been squeezed in between existing homes in Windsor Drive. Two new homes have appeared in World's End Lane, between the shops and now the old Mr Print premises have been redeveloped and two new semi-detached homes will shortly be available. There are also a number of extensions coming forward for planning permission. If any residents are concerned about any developments in Green Street Green, please contact the Village Society Planning Officer, Tamara Galloway. She will investigate and respond to you. |
